Beverly had always enjoyed art but did not pursue it seriously until her "chicks" were nearly grown. Both her sons took art seriously (and both are now graphic artists), and their examples inspired her to take classes at De Anza College in California. She received a Certificate in Art from De Anza and studied under Lee Tacang and Robert Walker.

Following a move to Washington in 1993, she studied life drawing with Robert Hoggart, pencil with Carol Hildebrandt, colored pencil with various prominent authors and artists, and watercolor with Michele Cooper.

In the past few years, Beverly has begun devoting most of her energy to portraits of both people and animals. Subjects have included those of her personal choice as well as commissions in pencil, colored pencil, pastels, and watercolor

At this time, Beverly is accepting a limited number of commissions for portraits of people or animals. She can work from life or from photographs and invites you to inquire as to schedule and prices.
